BACKGROUND
Dr. Schweitzer was heavily involved in athletics during high school and was a student-athlete on the men’s collegiate basketball team at UMHB, Belton, Texas.  During this time and throughout chiropractic school he competed on the Parker University Basketball team and multiple sports intramural teams. This background drove him towards a career in sports medicine and rehabilitation to channel that same passion to help provide individuals an option for recovery if surgery is not indicated.  Upon graduation he truly enjoyed the joys of working within the Texas Department of Insurance Workers’ Comp realm to help people injured on the job get the proper medical care they deserve and are entitled to.  He has been active in lobbying in Austin for the greater rights of those individuals.  He specialized in pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation.

His training led to a diverse background of sports coverage and occupational practice.  His knowledge and understanding of biomechanics of sports led to him taking on high school, college, and professional football kickers.

After graduation he joined Dove Rehab and established their first return to work program and aquatics department for post op rehabilitation. He was later recruited to join Orthopedic Institute of Texas and develop it into a multi-specialty institution for non-operative care, pain management and orthopedic surgical options.  He works doing expert testimony for work injuries and automobile accidents.  In addition to his love of teaching he has taken and mentored many chiropractic interns from Parker University.

HONORS
He was recruited and ran for public office for the Texas State Senate.  He is active with CLEAT (Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas) advising injured officers and helping them navigate through the Workers’ Comp system.  He was awarded the Legislative Leadership Award 2014 by the Texas Chiropractic Association.

OUTSIDE OF WORK
Dr. Schweitzer and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 27+ years with two boys.  When not in the office he enjoys traveling extensively with his family, and is a collector of fine wines and spirits.
